SVIET feted with the Excellent Industry Interface Award

Swami Vivekanand Institute of Engineering & Technology a name to reckon with in technical education in North India was awarded “Best Engineering Institute With Excellent Industry Interface In Punjab” in recognition of its contribution. The honour was bestowed by Time Research Group at India Education Excellence Awards 2013 held in Delhi. The performance of the participating colleges was analysed on various parameters including academic performance of the students, placement records of students, infrastructure and academic industry interface. The winners were declared on th e basis of a report prepared by Times Group and India news channel. This citation to SVIET is all the more significant in view of the fact that more than 500 colleges of were vying for top honours. Receiving the prize at a special award function organised at Delhi by Time Research Group , Sh. Ashok Garg, President Swami Vivekanand Group of Institutes said that the motto of the college has always been to provide quality and skilled manpower to industry. Also accompanying him was Dr. Dilbagh Singh Hira, Director General SVGOI.

SVIET Excels in “National Student's Space Challenge 2012”, IIT Kharagpur


The technical team of students – Suraj Mallik , Minkal Pahuja , Abhilove Sharma from Electronics and Communication Department brought Laurels to Swami Vivekanand Institute of Engineering and Technology by their excellent performance in the national level tech fest “National Students Space Challenge (NSSC) 2012” at IIT Kharagpur, West Bengal. A total of 856 students from different colleges of all over India participated in different competitions. There were on the spot events and online events of which SVIET team got 2nd position in DOCK-IT(ROBOT)

Water Car Launched By Mechanical Engineers of SVIET


In an Era when man is looking for alternate technology that will not only lesser but will reduce its carbon footprint also, the idea of a water-fuelled car is still considered hypothetical. Neverthless, the quest for efficiency using water-Conventional fuel mixture continues.

“TORQUE 5IVE” a group of B.Tech final year (Mechanical) students of Swami Vivekanand Institute of Engineering and Technology (S.V.I.E.T), Banur have come up with a hybrid car that consumes petrol and water in 50:50 ratio.Talking with budding engineers and wanna-be-technocrats Amit Jindal, Ankit Thakur, Jaspal Singh, Pankaj Dhanaula and Shashank Sharma said that Institute invested about 1.84 lakh rupees as there were lot of trials and subsequent failures. But they struck to their guns and eventually succeeded. Lauding the efforts of the students the Chairman, SVGOI Sh.Ashwani Garg and President Sh. Ashok Garg said that they will not care to loosen their purse strings as long as students come up with ideas that are commercially viable and in larger interest of community.

SVIETians shine at IIT Mumbai Techfest

As SVIET excelled again at national level Green Campus challenge by securing overall fourth rank out of 110 teams and second rank in presentation round held at Techfest 2013, IIT Mumbai. The Team TGCC include 14 students who participated in the programme:

The students got an experience by meeting Nobel Prize Winner Dr. Amartya Sen And Rakesh Sharma. Also there was an interaction session with Bollywood star Kunal Kapoor who is an Ex IITian. The three days of techfest was full of curiosity, as our students attended various workshops related to Robotics, Aakash2 launch pad, etc. India”s Unity in Diversity was seen at IIT Mumbai, as various organisatons from Kashmir to Kanyakumari were there. Team TGCC presented in proper formal dress code got appreciation from Officials and got a standing ovation from Judges. Finally, it mesmerizes everyone after a Prize money of Rs. 24500/- and Certificates were won by the team and second Position in Final Presentation round, was bagged by the students.

Total amount of Rs. 2,50,000/- was distributed among top eight teams by IIT Mumbai. Congratulations to all the students to show interest in “Green Earth, Clean Earth”.
